The Anita Goulden Trust is a UK based charity that financially supports the Anita Goulden Home for children and young adults with disabilities.

The Montreal AI Ethics Institute (MAIEI) is an international non-profit organisation democratising AI ethics literacy. MAIEI equips citizens concerned about artificial intelligence to take action because civic competence is the foundation of change. 


Kate Arthur is a British-Canadian entrepreneur, working with academia, governments, NGOs, and corporations to help bring AI and computing literacy skills into communities and countries worldwide.

Since the early 2000s, she has co-founded two technology companies and founded a digital education charity for youth. Her work has introduced digital skills to over a million children, with a focus on girls and young women- and she has helped build and power up many servers and computers, and written enough lines of code to understand how the digital world is built.

Kate sits on several boards in Canada and the UK, focusing on education, arts, and technology. She also mentors teams of youth and young women through organisations such as AI4Good, K-12 Ethics program, and Young Data Scientists.

Kate is an adviser to the Montreal AI Ethics Institute (MAIEI), a collaborator with the AI in Education Interdisciplinary Research Hub at Oxford University (AIEOU), and is often invited to lecture at universities.

Internationally, Kate is a speaker on AI and computing literacies and an active contributor to global policy discussions. She has contributed to UNESCO’s AI competency frameworks for teachers and students, and led the UNESCO partnership for the Algorithm and Data Literacy Project. She has served on Canada’s AI Public Awareness Working Group and is a member of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO’s AI & SDG committee. Her global expertise is often called on to advise country leadership, including in Europe and Africa, on AI ethics, digital inclusion, and women leadership in technology.

A trustee of the Anita Goulden Trust, Kate supports the UK-based charity founded by her grandmother in 1958, which provides financial assistance to the Anita Goulden Home and School in Peru.

Bilingual in English and French, Kate was raised and educated in the UK, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, and Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Concordia University (Canada), an Executive MBA from McGill and HEC Montréal (Canada), Board Governance training from the Rotman School of Management (Canada), and certifications in Public Policy, AI & Ethics from the London School of Economics (UK), and Digital Transformation and AI in Government from Oxford University/ UNESCO.

An active volunteer in her community, Kate spends her free time looking after babies at a women’s shelter so their mum’s can go on job interviews and training.

She is also the proud mum of three amazing young women who are dedicated to making the world a safer, more inclusive, and healthier place to live.
